The FAMO plant fitting machine has been especially developed for use in tree nurseries. It is designed to be mounted on to the right-hand side of the tractor. The frame is built from heavy square section tubing. This solid construction is necessary to withstand the enormous torque which develops during the fitting of larger trees. The whole machine is hydraulically driven. A heavy-duty I. oil pump supplies all the hydraulic motors and steering cylinders. The 100 l. oil tank, which is located on the left-hand-side, also saves as _ counter-weight to improve the balance of the combination. The lifting assembly with the ‘U’blade is attached to the tractor with two steering cylinders. one of these controls horizontal movement, the other one the depth of the blade and height of the belts. The electro-hydraulic steering valves are operated by means of a small control lever, located inside the tractor cab.

Two large  wheels, with low roll resistance, support the machine during lifting operation. These improve machine stability, especially in wet ground conditions.

Once the plants have been cut tree by the wide ‘U’ blade, they are gripped between 2 soft rubber belts, which run on nylon rollers, equipped with bearings. . After being lifted, the plants are automatically transferred to a  conveyer belt at the rear of the machine. The machine assistant can then conveniently collect the plants and stack them directly on the pallets carried by the integrated fork-lift. Subsequently, the full pallets can be automatically unloaded. After being picked up, the new pallet is lifted to approximately 33" (85 cm). This eliminates the need for bending during loading. As it is being filled, the pallet can be systematically lowered, thereby providing a very comfortable working position.
