The harvesting principle of the automatic leek harvester is identical to other versions. Spiral brushes lift the downward-hanging leaves upward. Below the brushes, a set of razor-sharp stainless steel blades makes the first precise cut of the leaves. Then, a digging blade opens the soil and loosens the leek. A foam-padded clamping band grips the leek and lifts it. A first small shaker removes excess soil around the leek. After that, a large shaker removes soil and sand from the leek’s roots.

Finally, a double set of peeling rollers cleans the leek. The outer leaves are peeled off, and soil is removed from the roots. In the double roller configuration, one set works on the white part of the leek and the second on the roots. The speed of both rollers can be adjusted independently.

High Harvesting Speed

To maintain a consistently high speed (from 2.5 to 6.5 km/h), the leek harvester is equipped with a deposit disc. This ensures the leeks are neatly aligned on the loading belt. A push wheel further aligns the leeks so that their roots are positioned precisely at the front of the container. The containers are filled from the top, layer by layer, in a horizontal manner. This allows for optimal use of space and makes it easier to remove the leeks afterward.
