Vegetable sorting machines

Like we already mentioned in another post, there are many different types of sorting machines to sort fruits and vegetables. We have already taken a look at sorting machines for fruits, but also for vegetables there are many different sorting machines.

Since vegetables come in many different kinds of shapes and textures, it is not possible to sort all vegetables with one kind of machine. That is why there are different sorting machines that can be used for different vegetables. These machines have different technologies and come with different accessories, so they can be used in different situations.

In this article we are going to discuss the main types of sorting machines for vegetables.

Roller grading machine

A roller grading machine is one of the most common types of sorting machine for vegetables. It consists of a frame, rollers and many different grading plates. The frame is made from steel or aluminum and it has several guides at the bottom to support the weight of the product being sorted.

The rollers are placed on top of the grading plates that can be adjusted in height according to the size of the vegetables. This type of sorting machine is often being used to sort flowerbulbs, unions, Brussels sprouts and carrots.

Weight sorting machines

This type of machine is able to sort vegetables on weight and/or size. It is made out of steel and it has a motorized scale that measures the weight of the product being sorted. The scale can be connected to either a conveyor belt or a hopper, so all products are transported to different places depending on their weight or size.

The scale can also measure the size of the product using different sized grids. This type of machine can be used for many different vegetables like eggplants, courgettes, cucumber or pointed peppers.

Asparagus sorting machine

Due to its unique shape and treatment, this vegetable has its own sorting machine. Many asparagus sorting machines are an all-in-one processing solution. In these machines the asparagus are being washed, cut in size and sorted, all in one line. More modern machines can sort asparagus on different characteristics like length, thickness, shape, color and violet.
