About second-hand Tomato sorting machines

The type of tomato and the way they are to be sorted determines the choice of the correct tomato sorting machine. Tomatoes can be sorted by weight and / or by colour.

Grading machine for loose tomatoes

Certain types of tomato sorting machines also offer the option to sort cherry tomatoes, plum tomatoes or beef tomatoes, as well as regular tomatoes. Whether a grader is suitable for a certain type of tomato depends on the design, the elevator belts, the singulator and the type of cups. The required processing capacity of the tomato grading machine is also of importance. The number of lines is the standard here. Maximum capacity can be obtained filling the cups to the maximum. This can be realised by an even and balanced supply to the tomato sorting machine.

Aweta KG tomato sorting machine

The Aweta KG (Colour & Weight) is a popular sorting machine for loose tomatoes. This type of tomato sorter can sort 5+1 colours by means of optical-electronic colour assessment. The tomatoes are then weighed electronically and sorted into 12 freely adjustable weight classes. The weighing range is between 0 and 500 gram with +/- 2 gram accuracy. The tomato may have a maximum diameter of 120 mm. Aweta KG tomato grading machines are usually designed complete with singulator and elevator belt with a dosing hopper.

Weighing system for vine tomatoes

Vine tomatoes are sorted differently to loose tomatoes. They are in fact harvested directly into boxes by the pickers. The boxes are then centrally filled to the required weight. The layout and interpretation of the vine tomato weighing system may differ per situation. The more efficient systems use an automatic destacking system from the transport trolleys. It is important that as little extra weight as possible is put in the boxes in view of the fact that the market gardener receives nothing for these extra kilos.

As well as second-hand sorting machines, we can also supply complete sorting installations which, as well as the tomato grader, can also consist of destacker, tomato wash and drying machine and a palletizer. We are constantly looking for reliable second-hand Greefa and Aweta tomato sorting machines to maintain an assortment that is as extensive as possible. The exact operation and specifications of the tomato sorters depend on the brand and the type. Contact us for more information about these Aweta and Greefa tomato graders.
