About second-hand Carrot harvesters

There are many different types and models of carrot harvesters on the market. The type best suited to you depends on your capacity requirements and harvesting and cultivation methods. Carrot harvesters by Asa Lift (Grimme), Dewulf and Simon are available in self-propelled, tractor-trailed or tractor-mounted versions for one to six rows. Harvesting machines can be equipped with a hopper or an elevator for crates and big bags. However, the most important distinction is made between the two commonly used harvesting techniques: top lifting and share lifting.

Top lifters for carrots

Top lifters are used to harvest carrots grown on ridges. Top lifters use rubber belts with ridges to grab the green tops of the carrot plant. The carrots are then pulled from the soil by their green tops, while a share pushes the carrot from underneath and loosens the plant. The carrots are fed into the machine by their tops via the clamp belts, where their tops are cut off by a series of rotating blades. The soil is then removed from the carrots with shakers, scrubbers and/or sieve belts. The carrots are then conveyed to the hopper or elevator.

Share lifters for carrots

Share lifters are used to harvest carrots grown in beds. In share lifting, the green tops are removed from the carrots before they are harvested. This is done using a topper. The carrots are then harvested without their green tops. A share lifter uses a share to get the carrots out of the ground from underneath and places them on a sieve chain. The sieve chain sieves the soil from in between the carrots, after which the carrots are placed directly into 1m3 crates.

We have presented an overview below of all the used Dewulf (Vecon), Asa Lift / Grimme and Simon carrot harvesting machines we have on offer. These carrot harvesters differ on several points. We will be happy to provide more information about them.
