About second-hand machines for Pears

The cultivation of pears is similar to that of apples, which is why many pear growers also cultivate, sort, and package apples. The difference between apples and pears in processing, such as sorting or packaging, lies in the fact that a pear is even more vulnerable to damage from falling or impact. This makes the transportation and handling of the fruits challenging and increases the risk of spoilage. Consequently, product-friendliness and maximum drop height are even more critical for pear machines.

On this page, you will find an overview of all the second-hand machines for pears that we are currently selling.

Used pear sorting machine

Due to the vulnerability of pears, pear sorting machines are equipped with cups that descend slowly. A popular pear sorting machine is the Greefa MSE, as it is equipped with rubber flaps behind the cups that guide the pears in the transition from the cup to an output belt. Other sorting machines sometimes use brushes, like Aweta. This varies depending on the model and manufacturer.

Water dumpers for pears

Unlike apples, pears are non-floating fruits. So, while an apple floats when the crate is completely submerged in water, a pear does not. Therefore, a water dumper for pears, also known as a pear dumper, is designed to allow the crate of pears to first sink into the water and then tilt, causing the pears to come out of the crate and sink to the bottom of the water tank. Subsequently, the bottom of the water tank rises through a lift, and the pears are transported to the dryer, sorting machine, or packaging machine by the flow of water. This method ensures that there is no damage to the pears during emptying and transport under water, making it the most product-friendly approach.

If you already have a water dumper for apples but it is not equipped with a tiltable crate clamp and a lift in the bottom, you can also choose to add salt to the water, causing the pears to float. This way, you can raise the crate upright, and the pears will float out. However, the disadvantage of adding salt to the water is that it leads to faster oxidation, for instance, in the dryer or sorting machine.

Second-hand packaging machines for pears

After sorting, pears are often packed in small packages suitable for retail, meeting the requirements of supermarkets and consumers. Some of the packaging options include cardboard trays with 4 pieces or containers weighing 1 kg. Different types of packaging may require the use of various packaging machines.

Multihead weighing machine
