About second-hand Seeding machines
There are various types of seeders, including mechanical, electric, and pneumatic seeders, as well as mounted seeders, seeders for grass, and small hand-operated seeders. Finally, there are tray seeders that are positioned above a conveyor belt and sow directly into trays.
HOW DOES A SEEDER WORK?
A seeder works by precisely placing the seeds in the right location. The seeds fall through a seed tube into a furrow on the ground. In front of the seed tube, there is a furrow opener that moves the soil aside, creating space for the seed. A layer of soil is then applied and compressed onto the seed with a press roller.
The number of rows that can be sown simultaneously depends on the machine and typically ranges from 4 to 14 rows. Depending on the crop type and the spacing required, you determine which seeder is suitable.
The seeding distance is often adjustable based on the type of seeding disc used, ranging, for example, from 0.6cm to 35cm.
From carrots to onions and from cabbage to spinach, there is a seeder for every crop.
TRAY SEEDER
As the name suggests, a tray seeder sows seeds into trays. They are particularly suitable for flowers, vegetables, and herbs that may need to be transplanted later on. There are different types of tray seeders, such as needle seeders and drum seeders. Such machines can be easily placed in a line.
Prominent seeder brands that we sell include:
- Koppert
- Visser
- Vandenberg
- Kverneland
