Baertschi (or Bärtschi as the Swiss call it) is a manufacturer of agricultural machinery which is designed to enhance productivity and ensure products of a superlative quality. In 1994 the name was changed to Baertschi FOBRO (FOrst Baum ROden, what can be translated as Forest Tree Harvesting) in reference to the tree nursey (or arboriculture) sector, in which use is made of Baertschi FOBRO machines.

Crop protection: weeder harrows and hoeing machines

Baertschi offers various machines to help farmers combat weeds, such as its FOBRO Comber weeder harrow, which can be used for a wide range of crops including all grains, maize, sugar beets, rapeseed, soy, broad beans, garden peas, potatoes and vegetables. Baertschi also manufactures hoeing machines with leaf protectors (the FOBRO Fighter) or star discs (the FOBRO Star), which are extremely well suited for hoeing in difficult, dry conditions and, generally speaking, to more easily bring weeds to the surface.

Other machines developed by Baertschi to get rid of weeds include a new type of brushing machine: the Baertschi FOBRO Hoeing Brush. This machine is equipped with special protective hoods, which protect the plants from the rotating brushes. The brushes are made from heavy-duty material and are ideal for use on stony soil. The outstanding flexibility of these brushes allows them to remove weeds in close proximity to the plants. The brush hoe was specially developed for use in between the most densely planted crops, without causing any damage to the plants and roots. This makes it unique in comparison to the more familiar weeder harrows, hoes and cultivators.

Baertschi manufactures various types of vibrating bed lifters that are suitable for harvesting a wide range of plants and trees. The FOBRO 2000 and FOBRO Super (Max) were specially developed to harvest plants without a root ball. The FOBRO Start is a shaking bed lifter that was designed to harvest young plants, perennials and trees with shallow roots, as well as various types of herbs and vegetables. Another typical Baertschi product is the FOBRO Pick-Up. This is a shaking bed lifter with an elevator behind it, followed by a platform for two persons, which enables the plants to be lifted up and/or scanned directly. Last but not least, the FOBRO Oscillator was made to harvest heavier plants and trees, such as avenue trees, deciduous trees, conifers, shrubs, roses and fruit trees.
